Cellulose Insulation
For insulation purposes there are a few ways you can go to make sure your home is protected from the cold and Cellulose insulation is one of those ways. What are the advantages of using the Cellulose insulation as opposed to other insulations? Well to give you an outline here is a breakdown of why we love to work with this material. Blown cellulose is made from a mixture of shredded newspaper and organic material. It is treated with a flame retardant and is a very warm insulating product. Since cellulose insulation can be blown it really fills all the cavities and does a fantastic job of making sure every square inch is covered.
Because cellulose is fire resistance in its make up if any fire occurs then the cellulose insulation can slow the fire down from spreading further. With recent research done cellulose insulation on average has a fire resistance rating of 20 to 50%, which means it really not only insulates your home for the better but in a emergency it can save your life and the rest of your home by slowing any fire down from spreading. It also does not technically emit any toxic chemicals when burnt.
Our company uses some of the best cellulose in the business and we use a special cellulose blowing machine. The machine works perfectly because it blows the cellulose around any objects that are sticking out to fill the cavity. Cellulose insulation does take some time to dry but in general it’s a denser material then fiberglass but it requires less energy and fits snugger than fiber glass when installed properly. We like to use a vapor barrier because with loose cellulose insulation you need this as it prevents moister which as we know can cause mildew if there is too much of a buildup of this.
So let’s just do a recap of why cellulose spray is a fantastic product.
- Once set it keeps its form and does not sag at all.
- You will save a great deal of money on energy costs.
- It will help keep dust and pollen out.
- It’s a bug free insulation so you won’t have nasty critters living in your walls.
- It stops moisture build up to keep the home dry.
- It’s fire retardant so it can stop the spread of fire if it breaks out.
